Update & Final standings
Another year comes to a close & once again, our juniors turned out in force, with nearly 50 taking part in the 12 race series. It was great to see so many Holmfirth vests at races near and far and thanks again to the coaching team & to all the parents who supported & ferried their athletes – hope you enjoyed it!
The final placings are as follows:
- U10 Boys – 1st Henry Parkin & 2nd Calum McFarlane.
- U12 Girls – 1st Isabel Richardson.
- U14 Girls – 1st Annie Stone & 2nd Alice Shelbourne.
- U14 Boys – 1st George Hobbs & 2nd Harry Hobbs.
- U16 Girls – 1st Lizzie Deacon & 2nd Ellie Sunman.
- U16 Boys – 1st Harry Shelbourne.
- U18 Boys – 1st Chris Law & 2nd Eddie Hinchliffe.

Lucy and Erica Byram
There were some great performances throughout the year, particularly in the English Championship, where the team finished joint 2nd overall behind Keighley & Craven – a superb achievement to hold off many of the fell-only clubs taking part. Individually, Chris Law was 2nd U18 & Seth Waterman was 3rd U18 and there were top 15 finishes for Annie Stone (GU14), Lucy Byram (GU16) & Harry Shelbourne (U16). There were race wins for Chris Law, Lewis Byram (U18), Seth Waterman & Lucy Byram, as well as other medal placings for Erica Byram (GU16) & Olivia Sykes (GU18). This success was repeated at the Yorkshire Championships (at our own West Nab race in April), where Sunnivah Waterman was 3rd GU14, Erica Byram was 1st GU16, Lewis Byram was 1st U18 & Seth Waterman was 2nd U18.
Looking ahead to 2016, the format of the competition will stay the same, with the best 5 races from 12 to count. Again, I have chosen all the English Championship races, which includes a new race to be hosted by Ambleside at Todd Crag in April & also sees a return to Church Stretton in Shropshire at the beginning of July – I can hear the engine starting on the minibus already!
The calendar for 2016 will be published in the next few days, but in the meantime, the first race will be an old favourite - the Stanbury Splash Rat Runs on Sunday 17th January – see you there!
