We’ve Opened The Archive!

Who exactly was the founder of Holmfirth Harriers?

How deep was the snow underfoot when they ran the Club 6 in a snowstorm in 1909?

What colour were those massive satin shorts they used to run in?

It’s not a pub quiz… it’s all in our new club Archive which is now open for you to explore. Thanks to the dedicated work of volunteers over many years, records have been faithfully kept of the racing history of our inspiring and successful club. You’ll find handwritten race results dating back to 1907 as well as photos and articles. Thanks must go to Roger Bradley for keeping our records in good order for many years. This has taken a considerable amount of planning and commitment and thanks also go to our amazing team of website editors who keep the site up to date – this allows Jon more time to do more time consuming work like The Archive.

Open The Archive

You can search The Archive as well as browsing by book (we have scanned nearly 2000 items from six books and two larger sets of photos.)

The Archive is optimised for desktop devices, so put the kettle on and put your feet up. You can still access this on mobile but as the bulk of the resources (we have nearly 2000 pages) are pdf, support for this is browser dependent.

What’s next?

We will be adding our Centenary Book to The Archive shortly. This will allow you to read through more details from over 100+ years of history. We’ll also be asking long standing members with a good memory to add information and further details on the results and photos from The Archive, so we will update you when that has been added too.

Want to see even more on our site?

Our website is updated daily by a team of volunteers. Training is provided. The only requirement is for you to have some spare time. This is a great way to give back to your club. The more people we have on the team, the less work there is for everyone. You can give as little or as much time as you have available. Please let Jon Burdon know if you are interested.
