West Yorkshire Track & Field – Division 1 – Meet 1 Report

There was a fantastic turnout of athletes from Holmfirth Harriers at the opening fixture of the West Yorkshire Track and Field League. One of the biggest pluses of the day was the fact that we had 24 athletes competing across the full range of events and age groups. This is the highest turnout we have had at this event for a long time. Another huge plus and something that made us all proud was the amount of encouragement and support that our athletes were giving each other. It was a positive experience and great credit to all the juniors for the enthusiasm they showed towards their friends and training partners.

The league is a great way for juniors to progress and develop their athletics abilities and skills. Most of our athletes were competing in a track and field meet for the first time but what they lacked in experience they more than made up for in terms of character, effort, and talent. There were so many good performances it would be wrong to single anybody out – everybody walked away with personal bests and more importantly they learned so much by participating.

If anybody wants to compete in the league its not too late to enter, there are still 6 fixtures remaining. The next fixture is Wed 11th May and entries need to be in by 4th May – see John McFadzean for an entry form.
