Hi everyone.
The date of this year’s West Nab Fell Race is rapidly approaching and in 2021, the race has again been selected as an FRA English Junior Championship event, which is a great honour, but once again will take some organising!
The races are to be held on Saturday 29th May and once again will be based at the Carlile Institute in Meltham, with the courses all heading onto Royd Edge & West Nab.
With the current lack of races available throughout the country, we are expecting plenty of runners to attend (in 2018 we had over 250 juniors & some 50 seniors), so with that in mind, we will need lots of volunteers to help during the day, with jobs such as car-parking, registration, marshalling, time-keeping etc. Registration opens at 11.00, with the first race off at 12.00.
The previous years’ races have all been very successful, thanks in no small measure to everyone who helped out before & during the day. The races are a great advertisement for the club, so we need to create a good impression with all the runners & their families.
Obviously, this year’s races are going to be somewhat different to the norm, with additional requirements to enable us to comply with the latest Covid regulations. For instance, it is likely that it will be online entries only, with no entry on the day and we will be using electronic timing. Sadly, there won’t be any prize-giving on the day either as we need everyone to disperse once they’ve finished their race.
The race page on the Harriers website has been updated, so if you want more information, head there:-

I know some of you have already offered to help via my earlier Facebook post & I’ll shortly be updating the event page on Facebook as well, but in the meantime, can you please let me know as soon as possible if you can help in any way on the day & be part of this great club event. You can email me at fellhobbs@gmail.com or text me on 07774-653975, or tell me in person – all methods perfectly acceptable!!
And I’ll try not to damage myself this time! 🙈
Thanks,
Phil Hobbs
