Three Harriers made it to the starting line on Arundel Gate, Sheffield. In chilly, but sunny, conditions we set off around the centre before chasing our way up Eccleshall Road on an almost continuous ascent of 6 miles. A cute little loop at the top of the course and we were back down the same way.
Mike Pellegrinis led the way timing his ascent pace nicely and then really letting go once the descent miles were started. He came in at 1:49:32, an extremely good time with 1,000 feet of almost continuous ascent.
Next Phil Hanson followed a similar pattern, grinding out a reasonable up hill pace and then letting loose on the turn. He finished in 2:02:58 – reasonably satisfied.
And then bringing up the rear, but only just, our newest Holmfirth Harrier, who only joined the club 2 days before, Kevin Terry, who has joined us through our recent Couch to 5k course with O’Brien’s Cafe. Kevin finished in 2:10:47 – a fantastic finish and absolutely cracking race. Great effort Kevin.
