Club Races

Club 6

The Club 6 was held on Saturday 25th March, a move from the traditional day of a Sunday.  This seemed to work well with 38 entrants in advance and 32 runners on the day.  Thanks to the handicappers, timekeepers, marshals and other helpers.

Congratulations to:

Paul Sammonds, first male home

Katie Walshaw, first female home, fastest overall runner and winner of the Past Members Cup

Emma Sheard, winner of the Walter Greenwood Trophy for fastest handicap

The next race in the series will be the Club 5 on Tuesday 23rd May and you can sign up on the website.  I’ll also be looking for marshals so if you’re not running and can help, please register for that (also on the website)

Monthly 5k Handicap

The monthly 5k handicap series starts today (Tuesday 11th April) and lots of Harriers have signed up.  If you haven’t pre-registered then you can still turn up and run, starting at 7:00pm from Magdale Fields.

Other races

The sign up sheet for the Joe Percy (14th June) is on the noticeboard and on the website.   We’re looking for teams of Harriers for this prestigious local event which is well within the ability of all our club runners and is held on roads used on training nights.  We need a minimum of 10 per team so please sign up.

In other news, 5 Harriers took part in the Wilmslow Half with new member Michael Armitage putting in an appearance after only deciding to enter 2 days before.  Liz Woodfield was first Harrier home in 1:30:39, edging closer to the elusive 90 minutes and Helen Standing broke her half marathon PB (set more than 15 years ago).

Damo McQueen ran a PB at the Trafford 10k (37:10)

Kevin Dessoy, Mike Hall and Phil Hanson ran the Haweswater Half in March with Kevin getting a new PB (1:32:04)

Mike can’t stop racing, completing the Monsal Trail half in 1:56:23

Thanks for reading

Kevin
