Road Secretary’s Report – November 2024
Well, what a busy month October was. Lots of races including our own Holmfirth 10k but lets start with the latest road championship events, the Yorkshire 10 miler and the Worksop Halloween Half marathon.
2024 Road Championship
The Yorkshire 10 miler is held as part of the Yorkshire marathon festival (more on that later) and we had nine Harriers in North Yorkshire for this event:

An excellent run by Paul getting past the line in under an hour and great runs from everyone.
The second championship race had six of us heading for Worksop. I’d really recommend this run. Very well organised and a lovely course on closed roads through the National Trust’s Clumber Park estate. A bit undulating but nothing like a Tuesday or Thursday night’s training with some long hills, both up and down.

The Holmfirth 10k was very successful again this year with a good turnout of 154 runners from across the district. Holmfirth were well represented and took the honours in several categories where Harrier ladies won FV35, FV40, FV55, FV65, FV70 and Harrier men (Kevin Y) won MV70. A brilliant morning’s running by all concerned and a special thank you to Michael Sanderson and his organising team and all the marshals.
