In the Men’s championships only Mike has completed the requisite six races to qualify for the title(s) and both Helena and Keren have completed six in the ladies’.  There is time for that to change.  All the races in the championship are on the website https://www.holmfirthharriers.com/championship/road-championship/  and a brief reminder is shown below.  The next races are the Tad 10 on 23 November and the Doncaster 10k on 30th

If there is a tie for 1st/2nd/3rd place, the number of races entered will be taken into consideration.  If there is still a tie then the age graded scores will be used.

2026 Competition

I am working on the races and dates for the 2026 competition and will publish them as soon as possible.    One race that has been confirmed is the Wilmslow Half on Sunday 22nd March so get your entries in.

Another race for the diary will be the Langdale Half / Full marathon which is likely to be held in mid-October in the Lake District.  The final date is still to be released and the race will be in the championships next year.  The fell section has had great success with away weekends over the past few years (2025’s was the Fairfield Horseshoe race) and I’m hoping to get enough runners to enter Langdale and make a weekend of it.  The half is one lap and the full is two laps of a challenging course – no PBs here – but it’s a cracking race.   If you are interested in taking part and/or finding out more details please let me know.

Other races

Lets start with the only open club road event of the year,  the Holmfirth 10k.  Brilliantly organised by Michael Sanderson with help from a large group of marshals and other volunteers, the race was a great success.  We had 229 finishers of which 34 were Holmfirth members and of those there were many category prizes and PBs on what has been described as an “undulating” course.  First Harrier back was Patrick who was 4th overall, closely followed 15 seconds later by Paul.
