Closed Club races (races only open to HHAC members)

The Club 6 was held on Saturday 28 February up around the windmills above Ingbirchworth.  29 Harriers took part in the handicap race, the only one in the calendar that has a staggered start.  This means that the majority of finishers are close together which makes the timekeepers role such an important one, but we are lucky to have Steve and John – two of the best in the business.

First on handicap and the winner of the Walter Greenwood Trophy was Richard Smith.  Fastest overall and the winner of the Past Members Trophy was Ben Jarvis, retaining his title from last year with a time 44 seconds quicker, and fastest lady was Helen Haigh.

Club 6 – 28 February 2026 – Top 3 Handicap Results
Name Position Time relative to Handicap Notes
Richard Smith 1 minus 07:11 Walter Greenwood Trophy

Thanks to all the volunteers marshalling on the course, the handicappers, timekeepers and tail cyclist.  These club events cannot happen without you.

The next closed club event is the Past Members Memorial Club 5 on Tuesday 5th May. See the link below to sign up to run an also to volunteer.  Please note that I will be away that week which means that entries will close ONE WEEK before the event to allow time for processing.  If you are not running then I hope to see you sign up as a volunteer marshal to cheer on your fellow club members.

Summer Monthly 5k Series

The summer 5k series is back.  This series takes place on the 2nd Tuesday of the month from April to September and is in place of the usual club Tuesday runs.  The runs are self-timed and take place on a 5k circuit around Magdale.  This gives an introduction to club members that are not used to racing in a friendly and supportive environment.  These races give members a chance to (hopefully) see their times improve over the summer as well as providing a decent training run.

The dates are:

  • 14 April 2026
  • 12 May 2026
  • 9 June 2026
  • 14 July 2026
  • 11 August 2026
  • 8 September 2026

You can sign up for the first race now, on the website and I’d like to stress, these are for ALL senior club members, old and new, young and young at heart.
