Road Secretary’s Report – July 2025
Welcome to the July Road report. Firstly, the Road Championships.
2025 Road Championships
There were two races again this month, both short (10k or less). Two Harriers made their way to Bradford for the 10k at the beginning of the month, and 24 stayed closer to home for the Huddersfield (Greenhead) 5k parkrun.

The next race is the Eccup 10 on 6 July followed by the Club 10 on 8 July. More on that below
If there is a tie for 1st/2nd/3rd place, the number of races entered will be taken into consideration. If there is still a tie then the age graded scores will be used.

2025 Club handicap races (Club 6, Club 5, Club 10)
The Graham Ellis Club 10 – the last in the handicap road races for the year – will be held on Tuesday 8th July starting at 19:00 on the new course at Farnley Tyas. All the details are on the website. This is a new route for 2025 which was chosen to avoid the major road crossings and junctions of the Honley, Holmfirth, New Mill circuit and we hope will be much safer for both runners and marshals.

We are very short of marshals this year so if you can help out, please volunteer by filling out the form online.
Summer monthly 5k series
The third race of the season was held on 17th June. A smaller turnout this month due to clashes with the latest Vets Grand Prix however, this didn’t stop both men’s and ladies records being broken. Ben Jarvis beat his own time from last month with 17:42 and Katie Walshaw beat the record she set last year by finishing in 19:15. Well done to both of them.

And our international runner this month is Alice who completed the Broloppet half marathon which crosses borders. The race runs through a tunnel and then across the iconic Oresund Bridge between Denmark and Sweden.
