8th October 2022 – Race Report
This weekend the Harriers took a women’s team to the National Road Relays at Sutton Park. Unfortunately, the men hadn’t qualified from the Northern regional event two weeks previously, where only the first 25 teams qualify, with the women not needing to qualify. And after having three team members drop out due to illness and injury, we still managed to have four fantastic ladies out competing and what a fantastic day they had with the sun even coming out!
The four stage relay is run over 4 legs of 2.60 miles and the first to lead off was Nikki Brown who gave the team a fantastic start, returning home in 74th place (19.02). Amy Smith took over on the second leg, having a strong run and pulling back three places and returning in 71st (19.04). Third leg was Diane Baldwin who stepped in last minute and had a strong race pulling back another three places coming home in 68th place (20.35) and Becky Burdon who also stepped in at the last minute on anchor leg, keeping posotion and coming home in 68th (22.28).
