Eric Muxworthy

1 December 1937 – 23 January 2015

We are saddened to be informed of the death of Eric who was a member of the Harriers for many years. Eric joined the Club on 23 September 1972, aged 34 years. It was understood that this was to be his way of keeping fit after giving up playing local league football on a regular basis. Although neither a Mo Farah nor a Usain Bolt he enjoyed his running, the Tuesday /Thursday training runs and taking part in Club championships. He won the coveted Tinker Cup in 1975 and 1985, therefore joining the few who have their name on this trophy 2 or more times.

During those years and beyond he was on the Club Committee, initially as a running member and later as a Vice President. He also helped the Club on numerous occasions when they were holding open races, be it on fell, cross country or road, officiating and marshalling where required.

Holmfirth Harriers Athletic Club and all its members offer their deepest sympathy to his wife Joan, children Paul and Alison and their extended families.

His funeral service will be at Huddersfield Crematorium on Tuesday 10 February 2013 at 12.30pm. Family flowers only. A donation box will be available at the service.
