HQ: Neiley Pavilion, Honley
Start Time: 10.30am
Distance: 6 miles
This will probably be the first race in the 2023 YVAA GP series. It starts with two laps of the field at Neiley and then heads to Brockholes via Cliffe Wood and onto Thurstonland via field paths. From Thurstonland it heads across the fields to Farnley Tyas church, past the school and through the rec. before dropping down Ludd Hill Lane and fields to the field at Neiley.
As you can see:
I am once again organising this race, the first in this year's YVAA Multi-terrain series It takes about 50 volunteer helpers from the club to safely put this event on doing such jobs as marshalling road crossings, sweeping the race, helping set up the field, clearing away after the event, finish officials (numbers and times), water stations, 1st aid coordinator (passing on messages from marshals about 1st aid needed on the course), guide (leading St John 1st aiders to marshalling point where first aid needed) and help marking / flagging the course on Saturday afternoon.
Please look at your diaries and see if you are available to help. Those wishing to run can still help before or after.
You can contact me via the Facebook post, email, the website (at the top of this page) or in person at the club.
This will be the last year I organise this event, having organised since 2007, I think. If there is anyone among our members that would be willing to take this on for 2024 and preferably for a few years thereafter, then please let me know. You can 'shadow' all I do this year and see how it works. I will be around to help / offer advice as needed.
