The Holmfirth Vets Race or YVAA Multi-terrain Grand Prix from Honley, to give it it’s full name is one of a series of multi-terrain events put on by the Yorkshire Veterans Athletics Association (YVAA).
Obviously owing to Covid-19 the 2020 series had to be cancelled and we are not yet in a position to announce a return to racing in 2021. I am hoping to use the 2021 Neiley race as a trial race run under Covid -19 secure conditions, possibly in March or April but this will depend on the situation at the time as far as the pandemic is concerned. If this happens then it is likely that we will still be racing using staggered starts and unable to do the usual refreshments after the race. Keep an eye out on the website and the club Facebook group plus club email notifications for updates.
Like all events put on by the club we could not hold them without massive support from members to help on the day as marshals and numerous other positions. Please help if you can if a request goes out. It is your chance to put something back into the club.

This is the same course as last year. It is mainly on good tracks and field paths with shorter road sections than previous routes. Trail or fell shoes will be needed in wet conditions but in dry conditions runners could use road shoes. The course is just less than 6 miles (approx. 9.75K) and climbs gradually to the same high point as previous years (290m in total). £5.00 entry on the day (£1.00 goes to host club).
Venue: Neiley Fields, Honley
Facilities: Parking at Holmfirth Harriers Clubhouse and on Gynn Lane. Please follow directions of marshals. Car share if possible.
Changing rooms and showers, toilet facilities and light refreshments after the race. Start just outside Clubhouse.
Just under 10k, nearly all off road. Are you 35 or older? You’re a vet. Come along!
Registration for the year takes place on line via the YVAA website www.yvaa.org but payment is on the day. Your race number lasts for the whole series so you must hang onto it after each race. Each runner wears their 5 year age category on their back so knowing who is just in front adds spice to the racing!
At the moment the cost of entry to each race is just £5 and for this you get to race and have a chance of one of about 40 age group prizes given out at each race plus spot prizes for those that do not win an age group prize.
