On Saturday 8th May 2021, Holmfirth Harriers Athletics Club welcomes you to the 2021 Castle Hill Challenge. Open to the general public and all levels of runner, you are invited to run this challenging route through a spectacular part of West Yorkshire and enjoy stunning views from the top of Castle Hill and the iconic Victoria Tower.
Starting at our race HQ at North Light Gallery in Armitage Bridge (HD4 7NR), in teams of between 2 and 6 runners the challenge is for your whole team to visit two checkpoints: 1) the iconic Victoria Tower at the top of Castle Hill (HD4 6TA), and 2) the Golden Cock Public House at Farnley Tyas (HD4 6UD). The choice of route and the order in which you visit the checkpoints is entirely up to you; road, trail or a mixture of both, it's your choice. Once you have visited both checkpoints, you then return back to the race HQ to complete the challenge. Each team's overall finish time will be confirmed once your final team member crosses the finish line. All runners completing the challenge will receive an impressive 2021 Castle Hill Challenge hand crafted mug, plus there will be various team prizes up for grabs.
Race entry is priced at £12 per person and teams can be made up of between 2 to 6 runners. Please note that this is a team race, therefore individual entry is unfortunately not allowed. We encourage you to form a team of at between 2 to 6 people to take part in the 2021 Castle Hill Challenge. Each team will be provided with their own unique start time ahead of race day, with start times taking place between 10am-1pm.
The race permit is applied for through the Trail Association which is affiliated to UK Athletics and therefore the race is run under UKA rules. The race will be electronically timed and chipped. Water stations will be available at both checkpoints.
The race start and finish point is at North Light Gallery in Armitage Bridge (HD4 7NR). Free parking and toilets are available at the venue. Hot/cold food and refreshments will be available to purchase on the day. Full results will be e-mailed to all runners following completion of the race.
Entry is now open and places can be booked online at https://timemyrace.co.uk/castle-hill-challenge/
When booking, please remember to note the names of your other team members, so that we can group you together accordingly. If you do not yet know who will be in your team, please state ‘TBC’. We will remind you to send us your team details closer to race day.
