This event takes place in a different area of Britain each year and is hosted by a club or clubs local to that area. The exact routes are not known until the day so there cannot be a recce beforehand. The first about 8 or 9K leg is run solo, on a flagged course, then legs 2 (about 15K) and 3 runners (usually a bit less) are in pairs, each leg on a different course with only short flagged sections usually at the start and finish. Leg 3 is a navigation leg where you do not get the checkpoints until shortly after the start, having to mark them on your map then quickly decide on a route to the first checkpoint. Leg 4 is another solo leg and similar in length to leg 1. The ability to navigate in poor weather conditions is essential in these events as other than leg one there is no other group to follow, even if you see others they may not be on your leg!
The next event, postponed from 2020, is being hosted by Helme Hill Runners but no dates have as yet been published.
