On Sunday 16th July 2023, just 2 Harriers, Chloe Law and Sam Standing took part in the City of York Athletics Club Open and were met with challenging windy conditions. This did not stop them! First up was the shot put for both Chloe and Sam, with Sam winning the U15 boys category with a throw of 10.51m and Chloe coming second in the U15 girls with 7.75m. Chloe was then straight over to the 100m, running a time of 13.98s with one of the worst head wind readings of the day of -2.3m/s. It was then straight over to the long jump with the category being split into 2 groups due to the number of entrants, however Chloe jumped a fantastic 4.72m to secure second place. The day then moved to Sam’s remaining events with javelin first where he threw a new PB of 38.87m to win with then just before his final throw, lined up for the 200m where he secured second place with a time of 25.52. A very successful day for the pair of them!
