Senior Point to Point "Haigh Cup" race.
This is the third and final race in the 'Winter Championship', after the Tinker Cup and Club 6. All of these races are handicapped, but the Championship is based on an aggregate best-time basis.
This year we have a new course and new set of points to tempt you.
The start and finish of this year’s Point to Point race will be Cold Hill Lane in New Mill- more specifically from my house “ The Laurels” which is the second house you can see as you come up the lane from the Village centre ( see GR below). Parking will be on the Lane. Please park on the right hand side right outside of our property or further up. You can also park on the lower part but avoid the narrow part as the Lane levels out. Registration will be here at the start finish point.
Prize giving will take place straight after the race at The Laurels. All the usual prizes plus lots of spot prizes.
Runners are set off based on their predicted time which is set by the handicapping committee based on their judgment of your current form. The slowest runner will be set off first with the second slowest second and so on. Runners can choose their own route between the points and the direction they want to run the course ( clockwise or anti-clockwise). It is unlikely that you will be able to follow another runner so it is highly recommended that you recce the course in advance if you have not taken part in previous years. There may be a chance to take part in a recce of one of the route options on a club night before the race.
Registration - £0 (donations welcome) 6.15 p.m. to 6.45 p.m. (6.30 p.m. for earliest starters) Registration will take place at the start and finish location. There is no need to come to Neiley First.
First runner off at around 7.00 p.m - please allow time to get to the start.
