Race report, Neiley, 30th June 2015.

The Parlauf final took place on Tuesday 30th of June 2015 and the 11 pairs that went to the start line not only had each other to contend with over 10 minutes of hard running but the temperature ensured it was going to be a hot final in more ways than one.

From the off Kai Sunman and Zara Farrow took an early lead being followed by the rest of the pack.

At half way four pairs had opened up a small gap with Kai and Zara still leading but their advantage was gradually being whittled down by Aaron Kettlewell and Tom Oliver with the young pair of Kristian Green and Sam Crawshaw a close up third. Callum Durrans and Harry Elliot made up the leading quartet.

As the nine minute warning approaching Arran and Tom had swept into the lead and they were now being chased by Kristian and Sam who were closing on each lap. However the experience of Aaron came into play as he kept the baton for the last minute and managed to hold onto win.

The race for second was very exciting with Kai gradually closing on Kristian and passing him with a second to spare before the final horn was sounded.

Craig Sheard had made up a number of places in the last minute and he had Lucian Fullalove moved up into fourth just ahead of Callum and Harry

The most experienced runner in the final was Andy Shaw and he came home in sixth with his partner Jasper Anderson and he was followed by two young pairs, Isabel Richardson with William Pickering and Daniel Howatson and partner Emily Travis.

Ninth were Zoe Storr and Cameron Lightfoot, with Finn Kerry and Jacob Eustace next. The final pair was Elle Sunman with Esa Butt who had stood in as a late replacement for Elle’s original partner and ran well to say he had already done a training session.

Congratulations to Aaron and Tom but also to all 11 pairs for providing a very exciting finale to another very successful Parlauf event.

Aaron and Tom were presented with the trophy afterwards by Club President John McFadzean
