Joe Percy 10K

Thank you all for pre-registering.  The information was sent to the organisers on Saturday and I'm delighted with your response; we have 64 Harriers entered which is fantastic.

You can look at the letter from the organisers for more information but I'll cover as much as I can of what you need here:

Message from Andrew Pearson (Secretary Thurstonland Cricket Club)

“As for parking I apologise once again about the request for no parking on the recreation ground. There is a recessed area just opposite the recreation ground which is often used by staff at the village school and any visitors. This will take a few vehicles but otherwise the roadside is really the only alternative.

The road into the village from Farnley Tyas is not ultra busy and parking on one side should not cause any problems. The approach road from Stocksmoor (left at the T-junction by the war memorial) is also usable, again using one side only.”

For race purposes, it’s obviously better if people park on the village side of the start."

Holmfirth Harriers flag

Sean Doyle and Lucy Verill have kindly offered to help out at registration.  Sean and I will be at Thurstonland Cricket Club from 6.30pm.  We'll locate ourselves close to the club house and we have the distinctive Holmfirth Harriers club flag; we'll be located beneath the flag.

Please bring your £4 entry fee to us (try and bring correct change), check your Vet Category (if appropriate), sign the form and we'll give you your number.  If you can bring safety pins as I don't know for sure what will available.

If you're not bothered about your £1 change, why not swap it for a Holmfirth Harriers window sticker?  We think of everything!

You must run in your club vest.  I have a few spare for £15.

Team photo

Ellie Smith has stepped up into the position of Chief Photographer!  Please be available and in your club vest for a photo at 6.50pm.

Sarah Walker who normally runs a Strength and Conditioning (S&C) session on Monday will be doing a warmup for all Harriers from 7pm.  If you've ever wondered what S&C is - you'll see it in action here!

The regular runners will know how important warming up is so please take advantage of this.  You may also want to do a 8/10 minute run to warm your lungs up (I'll do that after the photo).

Race start

The race will start at 7.30pm about 50 metres up the road from the Cricket ground gates.

Race finish

As you pass the finish line you'll be given a ticket with your finish position.  This needs to be handed to Sean, Lucy or me. This is very important, please don't walk off with it!

There will be water to hand and if you can, please walk back up the road to cheer other runners over the finish line.

Post race refreshments

The organisers put on a very good spread of food so reward yourself and have a slice of cake (or two!).  The results will be worked out whilst we mingle and socialise before they are announced.  It can get nippy so bring a jacket or hoodie to keep warm.

Enjoy yourselves and good luck with your run :)
