Update & current standings

After the completion of Helvellyn & The Dodds over the Bank Holiday weekend, we are almost at the half-way mark in this year’s Championship, with 7 of the 15 races now completed. The Men’s event is looking very tight, with Chris Beadle narrowly leading from John Ewart & Dan Shaw, whilst for the Ladies, Jordan Mullinger has a decent lead over Clare Ash.

Current standings

However, with the best 7 races to count (including 2 of each length), there’s still plenty of time to mount a challenge & the next 2 races in June will throw up different challenges. First up on Wednesday 10th June is a new short race, the Cross Keys Killer, hosted by Saddleworth Fell Runners. This will take in some of the route of the Cross Keys Relay, so is well known to many of you. This will be followed by a trip over the hill to Hayfield for the rather longer Kinder Trog on Sunday 28th June.

Sandwiched in the middle, Andy Shaw & John Ewart will be helping to organise the James Blakeley race at the Harden Moss Sheepdog Trials on Saturday 20th June. This is a great little race with a lot of history, so worth getting along to. If you can’t run, I’m sure they’d be very grateful for any offers of help.

Finally, a reminder that entries have opened for a couple of races later in the year (Borrowdale and the Guisborough 3 Tops events) for which there will be no entry on the day, so if you want to run, get your forms off ASAP!

See you on a hill sometime.
