Current standings (xls)

It’s nearly all over, bar the shouting! After last month’s Great Whernside race, we have completed 14 of the 15 races in this year’s Championship. The Men’s event is still looking very tight, with Jonny Mclean narrowly leading from Chris Beadle, Dan Shaw & Phil Hobbs, whilst for the Ladies, Helen Berry has sown up the title once again, so many congratulations to her.

For the men, there’s still a chance that the top 3 placings could change at the final race at Mytholmroyd (please note the changed date of 14th December), so I’m sure everyone will be giving it their all. Will Chris make it to the start on time? We shall see!

After the Denis Stitt race, we had 2 Harriers that had competed in all 4 ‘local’ races, so this year’s Local champion is Jonny McLean, who narrowly pipped Chris Beadle. Chris, however, is pretty much uncatchable in the ‘All-to-Count’ table, having completed 10 of the 14 races so far, well ahead of Phil Hobbs & Paul Fearns, who have both done 9.

Looking ahead to next year, I’ve started planning the races & hope to publish the calendar in the next couple of weeks. There’ll be some old favourites, plus some newer races to whet everyone’s appetite I’m sure!

See you on a hill sometime.

Phil Hobbs
