Senior Fell Championship - 30 Aug 2012
Category: Fell Published Date Hits: 437
With the completion of the Burnsall Classic race over the bank holiday weekend, we are now at the business end of this year's Championship, with only 2 races remaining. In the Mens competition, the title will go down to the final race, as the top 4 of Jim Durrans, Dave Knight, Phil Hobbs & Al Rees are only separated by 9 points. For the Ladies, there will be no catching Helen Berry, who will keep the trophy for another year – congratulations to her!
There will also be no catching Dave Knight, who currently heads the 'All-to-Count' table by over 100 points, having completed every race so far, some with greater ease than others!
The 'Local' races title (based on the results across the 3 races that Holmfirth promote, being Ian Roberts, Denis Stitt & Holme Moss) goes to Al Rees, who just pipped Jim Durrans & John Ewart & was one of 7 Harriers that completed all 3 races – well done to him.
Next up is the Grisedale Horseshoe on Saturday 1st September – a category AM Lakeland race from Glenridding that takes in Helvellyn & St. Sunday Crag on the 10 mile, 5000 feet route. Then after a few weeks off to allow for the Ian Hodgson fell relays & the FRA Relays in October, the final race is the Wadsworth Half Trog on Sunday 11th November, organised by our friends at Calder Valley from Old Town near Hebden Bridge – one that's guaranteed to be muddy, so see you there!
