West Yorkshire XC League Race 2 – 2nd November 2013

Holmfirth’s ladies turned out a strong team at Bramley Park, Leeds, for the second West Yorkshire XC race, despite the clash with the National Cross Country relays and with some athletes having to pull out with injuries.

JordanKatie Walshaw gave fellow GB international, Annabel Mason, a run for her money and led all the way until the closing stages.  Annabel pipped Katie by just 5 seconds, but with the Under 17 athlete not counting in the Senior race it was Katie who took crucial top points for the Holmfirth team.  Next over the line for Holmfirth was Ladies Captain, Helen Berry, in 9th.  Maggie Sykes, who by her own admission finds the mud tough going, still ran a very strong race to finish 15th.  With relative youngster Jordan Mullinger (pictured) having a fantastic run in 28th, the ladies finished 2nd team behind Wetherby.

Making up the B team was Lucy Needham in 42nd, Yvette Arthur in 50th, Helen Pettit in 56th and Jo Bailey-Taylor, who got closer to the mud than most, in 73rd!
