On Tuesday 18 Holmfirth Harriers travelled to Alwoodley, north Leeds to run in the latest in the YVAA Multi-terrain race in the 2015 series. This was race 4, in what is, this year, an 8 race series. The race is one of the shorter events at approximately 41/2 miles but the warm weather, undulating course and tricky conditions underfoot make for a tough event when running hard. At the front end, Mike Fanning in his first outing at a YVAA event, ran well to finish 3rd overall and 2nd M45 in 29:16. Mike was followed by John Ewart, having his best run for some time in 14th, 1st M55, 31:23; Sean McCaffrey 26th, M45, 32:38; Andy Hauser, 36th, 3rd M55, 33:32; Rob Kersey, 64th, 3rd M60, 36:22; Debbie Hall, 74th, 3rd F35, 36:55; Lesley Ewart, 79th, 1st F60, 37:12; Matthew Rose, 86th, M40, 38:03; Jean Shotter, 106th,1st F50, 39:10; Ian Golding 113th, M50, 39:29; Rosemary Baker, 116th, 2nd F55, 39:40; Neil Midgley, 138th, M65, 41:08; Paul Winn, 153rd, M60, 42:00; Bill Hunter, 165th, M65, 42:47; Tim Cock,180th, 1st M70,44:37. Three runners from Holmfirth, Chris Beadle, Gary Graham and Clare Ash unfortunately had to pull out through injuries and 237 runners completed the course.
