YVAA GP Round 4 - Pudsey

RoseOn Tuesday 11th June the latest race in the YVAA Multi-terrain Grand Prix Series took place at Pudsey. This is a really tough course with a killer hill near the finish but is still an enjoyable (!) and well supported event with over 200 entrants from 35 to 75 years. For the first time this year Dave Watson was beaten into 2nd place by Gavin Mulholland of Stainland.

I’m not sure whether dave was having breathing problems, he was certainly wheezing as he past my viewpoint, or just had an off day but no doubt he’ll be doing his best to reverse the order at the next race. In the ladies race Margaret Sykes continued her great run of form finishing about 3 minutes in front of the 2nd placed lady.

As usual at the presentations over 40 age group prizes were awarded and about 25 spot prizes were given out as runners finished. This together with free food after the race and a fantastic atmosphere go to make these races the one of the best value events around at only £4 entry.

Holmfirth results: Dave Watson 2nd, 2nd M40, 28;20; Steven Eastwood 19th, guest, 32:15; Jonathan Sykes 23rd, M50, 32;39; Dave Roberts 24th, M45, 32:41; Margaret Sykes 28th, 1st lady, 1st F40, 33:08; Kevin Yewlett 51st, 2nd M60,36:15; Jean Shotter 101st, 2nd F50, 39:58; Rosemary Baker 115th, 3rd F50, 41:12; Paul Winn 15?, M55, 46:07; Tim Cock 159th, 1st M70, 46:13; Angela Smith 209th, (?) F50, 56:27 and Den Kersey 211th, 3rd F60, 59:39. Full results will be available on the Yorkshire Vets website www.yvaa.org
