Fell Section

2012 – HHAC Junior Fell Championship

As with last year, the Championship is split by age category, U10, U12, U14 & U16, with a separate competition for boys & girls. Points are awarded based on placings in each race, with the first Harrier home gaining a maximum 15 points, followed by 13, 12, 11 & so on for each subsequent finisher. The Championship will be awarded based on the best 5 results for each junior athlete.

  • February 26 – Ilkley Moor (Ilkley)
  • April 7 – Pendle (Barley, nr. Burnley) – Lancashire & English Champs.
  • April 21 – Anniversary Wa! (Newlands Valley, nr. Keswick) – English Champs.
  • May 26 – Cowpe (Cowpe, Rossendale) – English Champs.
  • June 23 – Clougha Pike (Quernmore, nr. Lancaster) – English Champs.
  • July 1 – Hawkswick (Nr. Grassington) – English Champs.
  • July 14 – Sedbergh Uphill (Sedbergh) – English Champs.
  • August 4 – Hellifield Gala (Hellifield, nr. Skipton) – Yorkshire Champs.
  • August 25 – Burnsall Sports (Burnsall)

Welcome to the fell running section. If you have an aversion to tarmac and the prospect of scrambling up steep-sided hills and careering down the other side on paths mainly populated by nimble-footed sheep, come rain, shine or snow sounds like fun, then fell running is for you. Holmfirth Harriers has a long and glorious history of running on the fells. Recent individual achievements include three consecutive wins in the Old County Tops for Tom Brunt and a silver medal in the Yorkshire championships for Helen Berry. On the team front we have had a series of solid performances in the FRA relays and the Ian Hodgson. In the 2009 Calderdale Way Relay the women were 4th and the men equalled their best ever performance with a magnificent 3rd place.
